Avoid heroes with defensive or economy expedition skills. If you don't have a useful joiner hero, it's often better to send troops without heroes than to replace a stronger support skill.

For players joining rallies, the recommended composition is:
10% Infantry
10% Cavalry
80% Archery
Some competitive alliances prefer 0% Infantry, 20% Cavalry, and 80% Archery, but the difference is generally small. The key is always to maximize the number of Archery.

Set your best support hero as your first hero.
Rejoin another rally immediately when your troops return.
Do not start rallies unless you are a designated Rally Leader.
